The delivery ceremony was held at BYD's Hungarian pure electric bus and truck plant. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Affairs of Hungary, Attila Molnár, Mayor of Komárom, Hungary, Béla Keszegh, Mayor of Komarno, Slovakia, Homolya Róbert, Chairman of Volánbusz Group, and representatives of BYD attended the meeting and gave speeches.

The city of Komárom is located on the south bank of the Danube and Komarno is located on the north bank of the Danube. Historically, the two belonged to an administrative unit, and then they were divided into two, which belonged to Hungary and Slovakia. Today, these two sister cities across the Danube River will usher in the first pure electric buses, bringing a new clean, pollution-free and green travel experience to local passengers.

This is also the first time the operator Volánbusz has purchased a pure electric bus. It is worth mentioning that this bus has also been funded by the EU Interreg program. The plan aims to narrow the gap in social and economic development and promote the harmonious development of economy, society and culture across the EU.

The 12-meter two-door pure electric bus delivered this time is produced by BYD's Hungary plant. It is BYD's main model in Europe. It can travel up to 300 kilometers on a single charge and carry up to 80 passengers. The Hungarian pure electric bus and truck plant is BYD's first plant in Europe, and it is also the first electric vehicle plant invested and built by a Chinese new energy brand in Europe. Its products radiate the entire European continent. The factory currently produces 300 pure electric buses per shift per year, with more than 300 employees, and more than 90% of them are locally hired.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said at the delivery ceremony: “BYD Hungary has built a modern and environmentally friendly zero-emission bus for the local area, helping the Hungarian auto industry to rejuvenate. With the continuous development of global auto electrification, electric vehicles have become our lives. In the development process of the Hungarian automobile industry, we attach great importance to the promotion of electric vehicles, which not only improves the country’s comprehensive competitiveness, but also helps reduce global carbon emissions. Today’s delivery ceremony also proves that Hungary’s economy and environmental protection policies are in harmony Development, go hand in hand."

Homolya Róbert, Chairman of Volánbusz Group, said: "Volánbusz has always been committed to providing safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation solutions. In order to achieve 2050 climate neutrality, we need a public transportation system with both economic and environmental benefits. Today, we are here to welcome you. The first pure electric bus, I believe that soon, we will promote more electric vehicles nationwide."
